The beauty of the
Smokey Mountains were always a lure to us. The travel
through the mountain areas as we made our trips from
Florida, our home state, to Michigan, the home state of our
families, was a scenic delight and the best part of our
trips.
It seemed we could
only dream about actually living in the mountains due to
business obligations and children growing up. We never
thought we would have the opportunity to live in the
mountain and hills of the Smokey's until we retired.
That all changed when we simply decided to look for a farm
or land somewhere "up there" in the mountains.
We knew we could not
afford the price of land in the Carolinas and after some
research we started to look for lan
d in Tennessee, near
Cookeville. We had a lot of self-imposed stipulations
and requirements and thought the process would take a
lifetime. However, it soon became clear, that what we
were looking for was available and affordable in the foot
hills of the Cumberland Plateau. In fact, it offered
us more than what we though we would ever find.
We moved to a 225
acre farm with a 100 year old farmhouse and a 3600 sq. ft.
two story barn. Life changed! We had live in a
lovely lake community of northern Florida for nearly 20
years. We enjoyed Florida, but we loved Tennessee.
The exquisite
changes of seasons, the mild winters, the wonderful friendly
people, the beautiful mountains and gorgeous rolling hills
which meet the horizon took our breath away and still does
to this day. All this is a part of our everyday life
now! The beauty and grandeur of this land cannot be
described in words it leaves one speechless.
There is more to
this area of Tennessee than just the breathtaking
countryside. The community life is one of
friendliness, helping each other and family. Our sons,
in their teens at the time of our move, loved school and
this life style. We live just minutes from world
renowned Dale Hollow Lake, within an hour from wonderful
golf courses and Cumberland Playhouse. We have an
abundance of shopping, quality healthcare and grand
entertainment in Nashville, the home of the Grand Ole' Opry!
This area had so
much to offer that our entire family has subsequently moved
up to this area. Our married daughters, seven
grandchildren, nephew, niece, their families and even a few
of our siblings live nearby.
It was our nephew,
Russell Scott, who came across the piece of land we now call
Shiloh Country. We were once again amazed at the
beauty and grandeur of this part of Tennessee. Shiloh
Country is a place we are proud and privileged to share with
you. It has all that Tennessee has to offer.
Rolling hills, majestic mountain tops, Obey River frontage
with tranquil surroundings are second to none. Shiloh
Country may be the perfect place you are looking for.
We as a family own
and are developing Shiloh Country, no hype from hired sales
people, just our family - offering you a wonderful piece of
the Tennessee mountains with all the beauty, open space and
tranquility Tennessee has to offer.
We invite you to
come and see us, sit a spell and enjoy the beauty, the
peacefulness and matchlessness of Shiloh Country.
